Vijay Sivaraman is co-founder, Director, and CEO of Canopus Networks. He was an early engineer in a silicon valley start-up manufacturing optical switch-routers, and has done extensive product architecture, development, and operations of carrier-grade solutions for Telcos. Prior to that he worked at Lucent Bell-Labs where he invented new architectures for high-speed switching chipsets. He is a tenured Professor at UNSW Sydney, co-founder of the ANZ SDN Alliance , and has raised millions of dollars for SDN and IoT technologies from government, defence, and private industry. He holds 4 patents, has published over 100 research articles, and is a regular speaker at conferences and trade-shows.He received his B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from the IIT Delhi, India, in 1994, and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2000.

Himal Kumar

Himal Kumar Co-founded Canopus Networks and now serves as the CTO of the company. Himal has years of experience in building production grade SDN solutions and has engineered multiple SDN/NFV applications deployed and trialled in research and production networks. He is also experienced in architecting and building scalable and efficient network applications which leverage programmable hardware.  He is also a part of open-source SDN community and has contributed to applications in ONOS and ODL.He received his Master of Philosophy degree from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 2017 and Bachelors from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Patna) in 2014. His expertise has been in applying SDN/NFV technology in the areas of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), High-Speed Flow Classification and NFV for middle-boxes.

Paul Barrett

Director & Chairman of the Board

Paul is an experienced technology executive, working at the cutting edge of science and engineering for two decades, with experience spanning from early-stage technology companies through to large multinationals in the water, materials, energy and pharmaceuticals industries. Paul leads the Physical Science investment team at IP Group Australia. Prior to joining IP Group, Paul was the co-founder and CTO of AquaHydrex - a company pioneering a new approach to hydrogen production. The company was formed based on intellectual property from the University of Wollongong and Monash University, and Paul helped oversee the company’s growth from University labs to its own state of the art pilot manufacturing facility.Paul has a PhD in Chemical engineering from the University College Dublin and is an inventor on 6 patents

 David Spence

David is well known in the internet/communications industry both in Australia and New Zealand. He has been involved in over 20 internet-related businesses as Chairman, CEO, Director, major shareholder or advisor. He launched Australia’s first search engine ANZWERS in early 1997 and was first to market in Australia with consumer broadband satellite services in 2001 under the name of Access1. David was COO, and then CEO, of Ozemail, which was the largest ISP in Australia in the 1990s before it was sold to Verizon Business. He pioneered wireless broadband in Australia as CEO of Unwired Limited, was previously Chairman of Vocus Communications (ASX:VOC), one of Australia’s largest and fastest growing telecommunication companies, and was Chairman of the Internet Industry Association. He is currently Chairman of PayPal Australia and Discovery Ag, and Non Executive Director of Netcomm Wireless Limited.

Rajesh Vasa

Rajesh Vasa is an innovator and entrepreneur with over 2 decades of experience spanning both industry and academia with a specialisation in artificial intelligence and complex software systems design.  His career spans roles in technology engineering, operations and executive leadership with an international work profile.Rajesh has deep expertise in creation and operationalisation of complex technology solutions. His work is broad and in the recent past involved operationalising multiple complex systems spanning many areas -- intelligent homes for aged care, reducing traffic congestion, detecting spam using neural networks, reducing costs and improving patient care. He is a tenured Professor with multiple successful start-ups and spin-outs from his lab some of which are now mature organisations spanning the globe.
